What do you recommend for a low maintenance fast, light weight bike for commuting around $800?

commute in toronto on king st / richmond st, i've got avoid doors, keep traffic, , there's lots of stop , go due traffic lights. priority being able keep eye on traffic around me, acceleration, , bike bare essentials. fixies cool, nothing twitchy. looking @ khs urban uno or giant bowery fmx, i'd other options, or opinions on 2 bikes.
