1. daily practice.

2. best attitude. think in terms of long-term growth , lots of "baby steps". progress "sneak on you" - won't have sudden spurts of accomplishment. yet, when in few months, you'll see great progress. art skill comes gradually on years.

don't obsess progress, enjoy learning experience. know 1 day you'll miss these days , remember them fondly. it's learning ballet, sport, learning play musical instrument or learning fly airplane - takes lots , lots of practice.

don't try work long , hard @ single "masterpieces". instead make many, many small sketches. later can work on bigger projects.

if drawing you, it's going blast. if don't enjoy it, try other form of art instead.

3. learn see. 99% of people "look" don't "see" keenly. it's else takes practice. want see did when child , every sight brand new you. nurture artist's eye.

doing photography can lot. pay special attention light , shadow , how make forms happen. learn see essence in scenes , parts had best leave out. you'll want distill out vital parts audience can see keenly - through artistic vision.

4. learn stop thinking , quiet mind. put 100% of attention eyes. you're on right track , "in zone" when don't notice time passing or noises around you, etc.

8. if want make money artist, you'll have learn marketing. you'll remember unique nature stock in trade. nobody else you. more explore , "nurture nature", more creative, expressive , original artwork become. , less competition you'll have.
