Pontiac firebird engine confusion?

ok here deal

not sure engine. have not had daylight @ car since working 6am 9pm few days. got car friend sitting @ exes house.

87 pontiac firebird

told me 4 cylinder. has 2.8 head on far tell flashlight. , told me top , bottom of engine not same, bottom being 3.2.

of make , sense you. please give me info may have on subject , if there thing should for/at.
