Subaru Impreza Shudders From Stop?

mother has 2005 subaru impreza outback sport automatic 55,000 miles , 2.5l engine. have noticed recently, both when drive or when drives it, when taking off stop, car shudder , shake. similar feeling when driving manual car , stall - car shake , buck. doesn't happen time , seems happen more on inclines. last second or 2 car gets speed, noticeable. started minor thing feels quite violent. think torque converter in capacity, no expert. car seemed have weird transmission since new - slow kick down, feeling disconnected sometimes. when driving while back, second or two, felt transmission shifted neutral, drive - there no power , felt disconnected. car doesn't stall or shake @ stoplights or that. problem? car still in powertrain warranty, if torque converter or transmission, can taken care of. thanks!
