Volkswagen bug, cool or dumb?

okay im 15 , getting permit , car soon. parents have said not going buy me car because family friend wants give me one. has volkswagen bug it's not old antique one, isn't convertible , doesn't have sun roof. pretty basic , simple.

cool or pretty lame??

parents said since getting car @ no cost nice paint job.

colors think good?
thinking maybe light green or maybe red (like lady bug) dumb? bright fun colors! not yellow or orange
