Why is it that the news, the police, and everyone gives bad advice about Toyota sticking accelerator?

have guy in prius calls police , says apply brakes , emergency brake? really? news says apply firm pressure brakes. really? why not shut off fools?! nobody ever thought of that? or putting in neutral better idea fighting speed brakes. sure, blow engine, toyota have give new 1 , @ least not die trying overcompensate accelerator, won't work.
