Clarity in photography?

have canon rebel t1i. have standard 18-55mm lens , tamron 70-300mm lens. have standard flash im in process if getting bigger one. have great passion photography , past couple of years have read can hands on. purchased photoshop program , im take class learn how use it. question is....1. camera decent enough begin pursuing dream , secondly effects quality. when comparing pics idols not bright. simple grass, mine looks dull compared there's. camera, lens, lack of large flash, or editing program? please let me know , of u want answer smart a$$ comment please don't, im still learning , don't need ur negativity! thank u!
