My goldfish are chasing each other?

have 2 fantail goldfish, don't know sexes. have never chased each other before, 1 chasing other. other fish doesnt chase him back. boredom? in quite small tank.
if pregnant , laying eggs do?!?! cant have baby fish , dont want them die.
eggs eaten?
put fry in pond @ friends house or die frmo cold? had lot of fry grew fine.
