What are the most important factors to be considered in designing an Art Musuem?
i've visited lot of art museums, i'll mention factors seem important.
protection of art collection, light, humidity, thieves, , museum visitors.
lighting allows excellent viewing day or night, blazing sun or overcast or snowing.
sound control, noise made visitors behaving doesn't interfere experience of others. many smaller galleries within large facility contains sound degree, creates other challenges, to...
workable layout provides multiple ways see without following single course.
handicapped access portions of facility.
large enough lobby or entry allow crowds waiting enter , storage of coats, strollers, etc. in secure facility. (i got coat stolen @ art museum in houston!)
multiple restrooms, in lobby , on every floor or in every section.
office space staff.
storage space portions of collection not on exhibit.
work rooms collections maintenance, repair, etc.
small auditorium lectures collection staff or visiting artists.
sufficient wiring allow exhibits rely heavily on video, neon, etc.
space profit-making aspects such small restaurant (often high-end), more casual eatery, , good-sized gift shop.
generous grounds room expansion, featuring artworks, such statuary garden.
more generous parking, ideally free or low cost.
i'm architecture student , have visual arts museum thesis. ask important matters considered in designing museum...
