Is there any difference between an opera house to a performing arts theater?

today opera house present "grand opera" composers such verdi , wagner. might site ballet performances or symphony concerts.

performing arts theater present sorts of performances including dance, music , theater. not present operas stage facilities insufficient opera.

in 1800s many performing arts theaters called opera houses though operas seldom performed there. name opera house sounded more respectable in days when theaters looked down on.
