patriotism still matters, although should narrow question bit. asking broad of question general answers. give relevant example point of view.

canadian.
enjoy being canadian, , proud live in country rights , being looked after, yet man woman or child standing next me. sure, pay more in taxes united states citizens, know if ever happen me, no matter medical care, essential needs of life provided , can take pride knowing protecting life of every other canadian.
proud live in salad bowl of country, distinct groups can live , thrive in , amongst 1 without having of 1 cultural adhesion, can nation, freely practice religions , customs within reason, , no 1 can stop long not endanger or impose on others' rights.

patristic love of country, , belief in nation. patriotism doing right country though hard because want improve nation way can. without patriotism cannot have identity. cannot have national identity if country has no citizens, proud of nation. if no 1 proud american citizen, there no america because no 1 care it.

why patriotism matters.
