Does a Subaru Forester typically overheat on long trips?

no, should @ temperature of thermostat. if it's overheating, there problem. it's possible overheat without significant leak.

check hoses. bottom one, may closing on vacuum , stopping water flow. make sure has thermostat , it's working properly, if seems take long time reach operating temperatures.

vanes on water pump might worn point water isn't circulating fast enough, or may have plugged radiator.

have had mechanic @ it? did say?

i bought subaru forester , ive been on 2 trips, 1 hour long , three. on both trips overheated cant seem find significant leak in radiator or coolant reservoir. suggestions?
