Philosophy names to know?

i'd start studying history of philosophy before going specific philosopher. need sense of context of ideas appreciate philosopher going on about. can't understand heidegger, instance, without understanding husserl, hegel, nietzsche, kierkegaard, kant, hume, locke, descartes, spinoza, leibniz, duns scotus, aquinas, augustine, aristotle, plato, socrates, , pre-socratics. there's consistent line reasoning running throughout entire western tradition of philosophy; i'd best way start out @ larger historical perspective; might want hone in on 1 or 2 particular thinkers, , of important works. otherwise, you're understanding philosopher on superficial level, , hence missing point philosophy means.

i have had interest in field , know accessible ones , variety of people different thoughts. in advance.
