Activities for teaching young learners with poetry?

start showing them rhyming words dog , bog, kat , mat, bug , rug, etc.
find funny poems depending on grade. know old lady swallowed fly 1 of favorites. can make own poem. give theme little harder. if want can give out prizes creative, funniest, longest, shortest, overall best,etc.

what kind of creative, new activities use teach elemantary students english language through poetry? (poetry needs tool can enrich vocabulary......)
