hobbes not deny existence of god, decidedly opposed positive revealed religion, including christianity.

moral life not exceed limits of matter , of motion. sensations, passing heart, generate pleasure , hate, is, inclinations , repulsions. men naturally tend pleasure considered form of self-satisfaction. such tendency must rationalized calculation, in order may bring greater pleasure. possible in state.
