A question about taking photography as a course?

took 2 photography classes in college. experience depend on taking class. first class took film - learned how roll our own film, use manual film camera, develop film, , print (using enlarger). along learning lighting, contrast, framing image, , choosing subjects, among other things.

second class took digital. learned using digital slr cameras, photoshop, color balancing, scanning, editing, , printing (on computer printer - not might in film class). since advanced class, explored different kinds of equipment. made pin-hole cameras, used view camera, , experimented flash.

have things going digital these days. working film rewarding, many schools phasing out of film photography classes. time took second photography class (just year , half after first), "film" students weren't using enlarger - scanning , printing images computer. 1 section of class used digital cameras, in black , white.

also, whether or not have pay equipment depend on school. when took classes, cameras , equipment available me. did have own camera, however. if school has equipment can use, you'll still have pay film (if it's film class), , paper. things can add up.

luck!

i`m starting college in september , thinking of taking photography option,
can give me more details etc etc..;)
