Can I have 2 dental insurance with the same insurance provider?

hi,
i'm under wife's dental insurance plan since company pays 100%. went dentist last week , doctor told me have replace super old crowns , total cost approximately $3,800. have pay $2,000 out of own pocket since insurance pay first $2,000. however, co-worker told me if have dental insurance policy through own company insurance cover rest of cost. both wife's company , company have metlife dental insurance plan. has tried such thing? or there sort of restriction such thing depending on companies?
