'What does the anti-theft relay do on my 97' Pontiac Trans Am?

built-in anti-theft system in 1997 pontiac notorious passlock system. uses magnetic sensor on ignition cylinder present precision resistance based on key profile body control module. if resistance doesn't match bcm thinks should fuel pump disabled , red theft warning (text varies) light on dash starts flashing.

if problem, car can restarted leaving key in "on" position ten minutes, @ time light stop flashing. reprogramming key requires doing 3 times in row (first source) people have found in passlock hell, replacing lock cylinder , bcm without finding solution.

i crank car put in reverse engine died. tried crank never restarted checked complete starting , charging systems , made sure there weren't broken cables. thing alarm going off crazy anti-theft relay?
