'92 Toyota 4runner with an Auto transmission not shifting into 4th gear?

hello , in advance help:

screwed (that's how these things start) draining transmission fluid pan while changing oil. after noticing wasn't oil coming out, tranny fluid, let drain , put screw in. after changing oil, checked owners manual , stated when drain tranny (for 3vz-e 4wd) refill using 4.5 quarts. so, unfortunately added 3.5 quarts, checked levels (which lied @ time , said @ right level) , proceeded drive couple hundred miles. every once in while, check it, , overfilled. so, pumped of fluid out 2 seperate times. after having problems car shifting 4th gear, decided take toyota , have full transmission flush. said gurantee tranny fluid @ right level.

know background, here problem i'm having:

when begin driving car after has been sitting @ least 2 hours, not shift 4th gear until have driven 3 miles. when first onto freeway , drive @ 60 mph, still in 3rd gear @ around 4,000 rpm. stays in 3rd gear if ease off gas, or take foot off gas pedal. after driving @ high rpm while, kicks down 4th gear , drives normal rest of time. keep in mind shift 3rd 4th @ around 3,200 rpm , around 50 mph when i'm accelerating.

if have ideas, i'd love hear them.
