If I were to make a boat...?

i'm interested in making in making small 2 person boat go fishing on lake, or something. however, have no experience wood crafting, or boating. don't care looks. i've seen, , like, pdracing.com design, instructions hard me follow. looks easy, curve in bottom of boat matter, if both sides same? also, plywood matter? please help. there's not lot of info homemade boats online.

btw: i'd on budget of around $50. i'm gonna paddle, not sail.
