Why does it take 8 to 10 weeks to process financial aid at Lone Star College?

colleges tell takes number of weeks. doesn't, , if have in requested paperwork, able process it. however, have many students may have finished paperwork before or @ same time. not take long award 1 student, when have many students award or backlog, can take awhile.

should call financial aid office see if have requested paperwork turned in them. process this. submit fafsa online, results in couple of days, many schools don't download them every day. when fafsa--they call isir , copy email or mail sar--they see if there verification flags or reject codes. fafsa may rejected many reasons didn't enter information correctly, transposed ss numbers, didn't register selective service, etc. verification flag means financial aid office must verify information on fafsa. send letter or email need verification, signed parent , student tax forms , w2's if student dependent, worksheet send place list family members , questions. if there discrepancies, fao must correct isir, submit doe again. next day or two. if checks out, ready award. fao may request information needed verify information. may verify , isir's, required @ least 30%. federal government flags want verified. not bad thing necessarily. give them paperwork need possible. main thing: keep in touch if aren't hearing anything, don't call or email if time said take has not passed yet. emails , calls keep them job of awarding! best you!
