How can I proof I was ignorant when I became a US citizen and I didn't register with the selective service?

became citizen when 22 years old @ time ignorant , didn't know didn't know still register selective service,i knew @ age 18 every male here in supposed it,since 22 thought chance gone.and nobody told me different,now applied financial aid , denied me because of that.what can proof didn't know that?
