Why do so many people write/judge poetry based on guidelines, or the ideals of others?

i've seen many sites where, lack of better term, people judge poetry can considered "poetry nazis." think if don't follow specific structure, don't understand poetry , horrible poet. makes no sense me, foundation of poetry based around has no structure. because 1 man long ago decided (the first so) liked write way did, don't see how becomes more guideline others follow, not rule. although, read poetry these people, , horrible, trying boost self-esteem tearing down other self-proclaimed poets.

why many people obsess on structure, yet show admiration towards creative, original poet past? it's contradictory, it's stupid, , really, don't understand it. although, can understand finding annoying read lot of one-phrase-a-line-poetry find on here.
