Buying iPad - Toronto vs Buffalo?

need buy ipad , wii friend in india. live in toronto, flying out of buffalo india later month. looking @ prices, wondering whether makes sense go buffalo , buy there or buy in toronto itself. ipad toronto price cad 549 + 13% tax. buffalo usd 499, approx cad 528 + 8.75% tax + approx 3% conversion charge on credit card. missing something? similar case wii.
