Why does my 2001 Subaru Outback smell like gas every time it's cold outside?

relatively known issue car. happens when it's cold, fuel line fittings don't fit quite right, , warms up, expand , refit. below website shows how tighten fuel line screws seems solution. if doesn't work, have fuel leak somewhere, , recommend going qualified mechanic or subaru dealer. normal in cold car smell little gas (very little!), mixture richer @ startup , cold cars don't run @ startup, should not smell strong. have '02 outback has slight smell in cold weather, goes away within 10 seconds, , doesn't happen time. hope helps.

any time it's cold outside, 2001 subaru outback wreaks of gasoline. fumes strong inside car give headache. it's worse when heater on , car idling. know why happens?
