no, need 2 bikes: road , mountain.
if going ride miles, want dedicated road bike. should invest in quality, aluminum-frame road bike if want efficient transportation on pavement. found switching hybrid comfort bike low-end road bike increased commuting speed 30% on sixteen-mile daily ride.
found trek 1500 weighs 20 pounds narrow tires. travel downhill @ 42 mph, level @ 25 mph, uphill speed of 8 mph. total terrain average 12 mph.
shopped around year-old models @ 20% discount, found trek 1500 demo model @ 40% discount in 60 cm frame size. 6'2" @ 195 pounds, perfect fit. accessories, spent $800 tire repair kit, pump, , lock.
within first 1,000 miles, had 5 flat tires. replaced tires schwalbe marathon plus on rear , continental gator on front. had no flat tires on second 1,000 miles. tires cost $100.
spent more $100 on night rider 15 watt headlight , rechargeable battery pack. bought back-up cat eye lamp 4 rechargeable aa batteries. bought red flashers seat post , helmet, duct tape loop on helmet hold led lamp. since ride in below-zero windchills, paid $160 hotronic electric footbed heaters in leather shoes cost $100. wear layers of fleece north face waterproof pants , spyder backpack cover, figure $200.
so, spent $1,600 on needed 2,000 miles of riding in past year. spread on 5 years, bicycle commuting cost me less $0.15 per mile, cheaper driving car , provides great fitness.
i use commuting(5 km each way), doing trials/jumps , general riding around. heard these tyres on , off road?
