Why is my Dell monitor powerless?

hi everyone. 3 year old dell computer working fine months. 1 day, woke , tried on, green light flickered, went black. tried moving monitor, , flickered again, went out. tried moving on desk, not flicker. unplugged monitor, , replugged it. nothing. hardrive working fine, not monitor. tried switching plugs, waiting couple of hours, still nothing. eliminated outlet, powerstrip, , position. still nothing. i'm getting worried, lot of stuff on computer. plz tell me how fix it, don't want new monitor. thanks!!
