The Scan button on my printer isnt working?

have hp printer , scan button used align print heads after installing new ink cartridges. after installing new cartridges printer print out paper lines , bars on it. place paper on scanner glass, close lid , press 'scan'. when lights stop blinking remove paper , you're done.

when press button on printer, doesnt anything. have hp deskjet f4180 in 1 printer. lost installation cd.
