Open immigration to US. If we had it, what other policies would have to change?

history -- immigration in old days open healthy people had ability arrive. [originally, ship brought immigrants had accept hauling them away if immigrant refused health or other reason.]

immigrants offered little or no support government. implicit terms work or starve. charities , did immigrants temporarily.

increasingly difficult limits placed on over decades in order protect existing culture ... european , protestant, european, limits on immigration nations protect america being swamped tens of millions of least able contribute.

today, there significant lobby portion of population united states return open immigration.

current disaster in haiti brings once again focus. there pressure america open doors wide , welcome haitians wish escape.


question: if america returned open immigration, of our other policies have changed , what?

america refuse unable work? should minimum wage laws suspended such immigrants, esp. if not speak english? government provided social services should provided such immigrants? should put on payment service system non-citizens?

and, should done immigrants become criminals? deportation? return homeland no matter what?

taxes. way then, america didn't have income taxes working people or social insurance taxes. should immigrants exempt these taxes? exempt while earning less minimum wage? exempt fixed time period? not exempt @ all?
