Genetic Tracing to my 2nd Great Grandfather?

i've been doing genealogy quite while now, , have use of ancestry.com , have lot of genealogy listed out on family tree maker. part of genealogy has had me stumped long while. great, great grandfather, sylvester rufus allen, can find nothing on except married faith wilbur ostrander in 1901 in portsmouth, va. born july 25, 1883 in rensselaer county, new york , died june 01, 1960 in portsmouth, va. had 4 kids. ruth louise allen, great grandmother (born october 30, 1903 in south norfolk, va (?)), luther l. allen (b. abt. 1904 in virginia), richard cline allen (b. abt. 1906 in virginia) , teresa mae allen (b. may 17, 1909 in portsmouth, va). i've looked @ ruth's death certificate (she lived , died in beaufort co, nc) , confirm father rufus allen (but not list born). aunt tessie roberts (teresa mae allen) died in february 1997 in troy, rensselaer county, ny. hope someday can go ny , find death certificate , see if tells new rufus. (ancestry.com doesn't have death certificates on there, not new ones).

have hunch though, there's possibility rufus allen immigrated either ireland or england (or son or grandson of immigrants). have no other relatively close ancestors immigrated (closest 7th great grandparents), question is, dna blood test confirm have close irish or english blood in me , kind of give me hint allen's come from? can find no records of rufus allen in virginia, north carolina or new york , died around 1916 or (so i'm told) , married in 1901 census i'd able find both rufus , wife, faith in 1910 census; conveniently can find no record of them in it.
