Dr.Singh government has done nothing?

bjp claims dr.manmohan singhs government has done "nothing" people..for country...they have eve resorted calling dr.singh nikamma..useless...and people on y!a have faithfully followed line..i'd ask them..is nothing??

• has enacted path-breaking national rural employment guarantee act being implementedin districts provide 100 days of legally guaranteed employment each rural household seekingemployment in public works programmes. not has livelihood security been provided many lakhpoor rural families durable community assets have been created.

• has started , achieved considerable progress on ambitious bharat nirman programme totransform rural india expanding , providing irrigation, all-weather roads, houses poor,drinking water, electricity poor families , phone connectivity in villages.

• has brought comfort , hope crores of our farmers , families (i) increasing mspand procurement prices; (ii) waiving loans tune of rs 65,000 crore; (iii) increasing threefoldcredit banks , reducing interest rates on crop loans; , (iv) extending irrigation facilities.

• has launched national rural health mission has made positive impact byimproving quality , accessibility of primary health care in villages. more children beingdelivered under care of trained health professionals. around 6 , half lakh women have beentrained , posted accredited social health activists (ashas).

• has empowered weaker sections of society (i) giving scheduled tribes andtraditional forest dwellers rights on land cultivate in forest areas; (ii) providing reservationsfor obc students in professional institutions; (iii) passing new law protect women fromdomestic violence; (iv) giving women equal rights inherit property; , (v) enhancing hugelythe scholarships scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, minorities , obcs pursue college anduniversity education.

• has imparted new momentum sarva shiksha abhiyaan primary education. has alsointroduced cooked mid-day meal scheme in primary schools feeds 15 crore children every day.at same time, has first time in 5 decades, increased number of colleges, universities,and institutes of technology, management , information technology. investment in highereducation in xith 5 year plan (2007-08 2011-12) witness huge increase – 5 times theinvestment in previous 5 years.

• has delivered 5 years of record economic growth. has enabled unprecedented step-up ingovernment spending particularly on (i) education , health; (ii) on agriculture , rural development;(iii) infrastructure power , railways; , (iv) municipal services in towns , cities. thiseconomic growth has enabled introduction of aam admi bima yojana (life insurance cover) forone , half crore landless households, rashtriya swasthya bima yojana (medical insurance cover)for 6 crore unorganized sector workers living below poverty line , indira gandhi nationalold age pension scheme elder citizens on 65 years of age , living below poverty line.

• has initiated jawaharlal nehru national urban renewal mission (jnnurm) outlay ofrs.1 lakh crore in 63 cities upgrading infrastructure , providing basic services urbanpoor. work amounting on rs.42,000 crore in progress covering areas water supply, sanitationand urban transport. 14 lakh houses poor under construction. governance reforms underjnnurm has increased availability of housing in 63 cities. major programme improvingpower supply in 1,420 towns , cities has begun.

• has ensured states in country received financial resources centre developmentschemes , programmes @ scale never known before. unlike nda’s record during 1999-2004, nostate has faced discrimination in matter of funds central government. sensitive states ofthe northeast , jammu , kashmir have benefited enormously , seeing development activitieson large scale. first time, backward regions grant fund annual allocation ofover rs 5000 crore 250 of poorest districts being implemented through panchayats.
