off page ever optimization on other site's our site submissions search engine ranking directory submission, article submission, forum discussion, blog posting, press release, comments on other sites or blog. can because it's on free registration or sites. these activities known link building. can link building site giving them link our site or our sub-domain. in current scenario smo & sbm very popular in seo. smo(social media optimization) & sbm (social book-marking) must thing in current days business. can smo on sites facebook, orkut, twitter, etc. , sbm on sites digg, delicious, reddit, etc. these optimization or submissions not on site or sites page, on other sites, that's why it's called off-page optimization, because of create strong links site not search engine ranking diverting traffic sites have done these submissions
