My family came from Ireland,I need help finding out where they were from,I need good Irish genealogy resources?

there many resources irish genealogy, of them focus on particular location in ireland. need have idea of came - county, @ least - you'll know start looking. ireland big place. searching patrick mcguire or james o'leary "in ireland" looking john smith "in america."

don't discouraged. irish ancestors left records give clue in ireland came from. find records, you'll first need identify immigrant ancestors - specific people born in ireland , came u.s. you'll need know names, when born, approximately when immigrated, , when & died. can records left behind.

following records include specific birthplace:

death certificates
obituaries
tombstone inscriptions
birth or death certificates of immigrant's children
marriage announcements in newspapers
social security applications
naturalization records
ships passenger lists
