What's the purpose of a light aircraft carrier?

if can afford them, yes investment.

allows nation have strong naval presence in areas , reasons beyond overwhelming military might.

small aircraft carrier flexible, can carry 30 vs-tol aircraft or fitted out floating barracks marine units allowing between 1000-2000 men mobile base still packs sufficient helicopters keep them mobile.

investment allows deploy respectable number of troops on ground sufficient air support conduct low-intensity operations, such peace-keeping or humanitarian aid.

in addition there places full size carrier , considerable support vessels can not operate safely. aircraft carrier comes whole fleet in attendance, takes lot of space, in areas such south china sea, adriatic , several other smaller oceans (basically seas , oceans have large number of islands in close proximity each other narrow 'channels' between islands) there not enough space these ships without them getting in each others way , running out of space manoeuvre , in essence becoming sitting ducks enemy anti-ship weapons.

small carrier smaller support fleet able take greater risks , in closer , go in these tight corners of world far less risk.

plus if happens small carrier can not deal with, have big brothers come rescue.

is slimmed down version of large, full size one? in effect poor mans carrier? worthwhile investment or better going full size one?
