How to build a center console on a wooden boat?

might build 19-25 foot wooden boat take on ocean, plans include cabin, think big, , dont want it. so, need center console. need able fit of necessary equipment in there, (steering wheel, etc.) want room put other stuff. plans, references, or advice appreciated.

also, boat going 20 foot dory, , height of walls 3 feet. suitable taken out on ocean in moderate seas?
