What is Intermedia and Fluxus?


fluxus (latin "to flow") or intermedia concept has been used describe hybrid blending of different forms of media, such music, poetry, art, sculpture, film , paintings create work of higher significance , performer involvement. result of hybridised combinations of genres , media result in artworks cannot defined specific medium or discipline category. genres have blended each other , on time branched off new area have had own names created because of different media blending becoming specific. areas such performance art, visual poetry, visual music or conceptual art have appeared in world result of intermedia.

international avant-garde group of artists founded in germany u.s. artist george maciunas (1931 – 78) in 1962. members, including joseph beuys, john cage, , yves klein, explored media ranging performance art poetry experimental music. opposed tradition , professionalism in arts, fluxus group shifted emphasis artist makes artist's personality, actions, , opinions. throughout 1960s , '70s staged "action" events, engaged in politics , public speaking, , produced sculptural works featuring unconventional materials. though influential movement in europe, group's work conflicted authority , aroused controversy.
