Getting rid of "other" in iTunes capacity?

have itouch 8gb , 4.07gb nothing "other" , don't know how rid of it. have tried restoring itouch, itunes won't let me. have deleted safari cookies, cache, , history , still won't rid of "other". have 200 songs on itouch 10 pics , no videos. can rid of "other" space??
