Tips on equipment and methods for pro photography?

that's general question. cost go "pro" photography on map. depends on kind of photography. sports? travel magazines? advertising studio photography (most lucrative), weddings ... think picture.

if wanted wedding photography can set gear $7-10k. need powerful computer , large (24-30" pro grade monitor) lets $4-7k. also, need software photos, accounting , other "office" related tasks. have insure , gear. how maintenance costs? after that, need advertise. spend $600-1000/month on that.

if wanted go advertising photography, start out renting gear , studio. still have office expenses, , other related expenses running business. if wanted open own operation have figure on @ least $150,000 start cost. $250,000 more realistic, have cover costs while built business.

can gradually work way up, if not done right can damage reputation along way. once start calling "professional" have able deliver!

methods?
first learn as possible , shoot alot. @ kinds of photographers websites appeal you. make collection of bookmarks of photos like. decide kind of photography like, , start define own style.

go school photography. also, pick knowledge along way business. business know how crucial how successful are, no matter how of photographer are. after school go work assistant photographer in chosen field, couple of years should trick.

successfull pro photographer long expensive road (if want right).
