Do you know that the United States of America is a Constitutional Republic and what that means?

constitutional republic current form of government in united states. in recent years, many people have criticized federal government moving away constitutional republic, defined constitution, , towards pure democracy.[1]

republic, definition, has 2 principle elements, first, controlled law, therefore not control law. second, recognizes private independent sovereign nature of each person (man or woman) of competent age , capacity, therefore republic must representative in nature.
republic recognizes law unchangeable, or @ least can changed higher source government. in republic concept of “collective sovereignty” cannot exist, except recognition state or nation, body of sovereigns, can speak through 1 elected voice; though 1 voice can never lawfully interfere private rights of individual sovereigns.

limits on government
purpose of constitutional republic place limits on tyranny of majority. alexis de tocqueville wrote:

if, on other hand, legislative power constituted represent majority without being slave of passions, executive retain proper share of authority, , judiciary remain independent of other 2 powers, government formed still democratic while incurring scarcely risk of tyranny.[3]
united states constitution has many protections against "tyranny of majority." specifically, protects unalienable rights of people overreaching government. example:

congress cannot establish religion, or prohibit free exercise thereof -- amendment 1
congress cannot prohibit free speech -- amendment 1
congress cannot infringe on right keep , bear arms -- amendment 2
senators must elected states, not people -- annulled amendment 17
presidents must elected electoral college, not directly population
habeas corpus shall not suspended, except during invasion or rebellion -- article 1, section 9
no direct tax shall placed on people without apportionment -- article 1, section 9 - annulled amendment 16
not explicitly permitted congress constitution reserved states or people -- amendment 10
