Why aren't Introductory Philosophy courses offered as an option in the High School classroom?

considering write master's dissertation on subject, of how successfuly implement philosophy option high school classrooms.

researching if @ has been attempted in past in modern western society , having difficulty in finding antyhing. know of attempts, whether or unsuccesfully, @ integrating , implementing philosophy coursework in secondary education? obstacles?

it's astounding me not more common.
