Mazda 3s automatic making a loud noise from the rear?

test drive 2.3 automatic mazda 3s. engine sounds clean, quiet no stuttering or unusual noise can hear. @ higher speeds (above 30mph) can hear loud "shhhhhhhh" sort of noise coming rear of car. sales person told me cause uneven tread on rear wheels or problem bearings , said can fixed. want know if cause of noise or going cost me lot of money (thousands) fix.
