How can I improve my poetry?

okay, here's recent poem:

'beauty's eyes have forsaken
death has taken you.
white roses on overturned earth
through tears , blood you'll find rebirth.
when god took lover away
took him words never got say.
, i'm left dead memories , broken heart
can't imagine apart.
nobody see
pain has caused me
, world never know
more love buried under willow.
heart, soul, existence,
died you, along essence.
want know i'll see
, we'll fly, off moon.
until have these 3 words;
'i love you' heard.'

i've been told it's good, know lots of people think it's terrible because write heart. don't write type of strategy @ all... how can improve poetry/writing in general skills?
