Why do printers break down often?

-

contain quite few moving parts, of not particularly hard-wearing. , yes, think built-in obsolesence play part. in cartridge pay ink , mark-up proprietary shape of cartridge.
ink pretty expensive really. printer machines @ low end of market so-so. having said have old lexmark still going strong.

are printers created companies purposefully break down, ppl can buy new printers , business? , why in world cartridges expensive!
