far work; you'd have remove intake, valve cover, , rocker arm. r&r lifter, reassemble, set valve lash, reseal intake, set dizzy in properly, etc etc. it's fair amount of work. i'd bet shop want $700-850+ parts it. parts wouldn't exceed more $50 between few gaskets , lifter itself. call around.

, bs, they're not junk. depends on how car cared for. seen ratty 4th gens, seen pristine 3rd gens , vice versa. it's relative. buy like, homework first.
