What's the difference between an Audio CD & an MP3 CD?

havta burn cds car, & tryna burn 1 right now, & gives me time limit of 80 mins on cds...but on cds says 700mb....& 80 mins comes out 128 mb or so...so time went on 4 mins wanted songs tried changing option mp3 instead see happened, & sure enough burned songs.
i'm wondering...does mp3 play in all/most cd players? haha, or in types of players?
quality worse, or different type of file?
if so, there can make 'audio cd' allow more 80 mins of songs?

(haha & yes, lazy walk out car & test it...worked in aunt's car though. has bmw :p)
