Monitor driver, install or not to install?

monitor: dell 2408wfp 24"
got windows 7, devices have drivers installed. monitor still @ "plug , play monitor" in device manager though. ati catalyst drivers recognize right 2408wfp if want change screen resolution (both in utility , under personalize->display settings.)

i'm hesitant install monitor driver windows update because last time installed "optional" updates, must have messed icm color profile, screwing colors looked washed out within browser , if viewed images in windows explorer/photo viewer. if selected "slideshow," colors , intensity returned normal.

windows 7 says package released in september, 2007 , published 9/13/08. oddly it's 65kb. colors , graphics working fine is, should not try , fix that's not broken , wait until dell comes out windows 7 driver?
