I have a 99 pontiac grand prix and i not sure if its my entire engine or my head gasket (warped or cracked).?

1 day running , next day wouldn't start. changed out spark plugs , wires , got started , white smoke came out of exhaust pipes. cut car off , not start anymore. been down week now. please before spend money on engine....(99 pontiac grand prix 3800 v6...not supercharge)
