What are the art edu and journalism programs like at Cleveland State?

imo should consider prospective majors carefully, regardless of attend school. 1 of important decisions in our lives, , majority of university students fail evaluate adequately financial consequences of choice in majors.

universities unfortunately make no effort alert students majors may offer weak job prospects. i've never heard of university dissuaded students majoring in subjects might not offer employment opportunities upon graduation. prepared go grad school if major doesn't provide desired job?

news media in decline, prospects journalism , communication majors may limited many years. knew intelligent individual graduated communications degree csu long time ago, had great difficulty finding employment despite 4.0 average, best possible @ time. read @ time annually universities in u.s. graduated more journalism , communication majors total number of existing jobs in related professions, not openings. what's situation today?

similarly, , unfortunately, hard-pressed school districts slashing art education budgets.

contrast, suspect csu graduates grade averages in fields such accounting , engineering remain in great demand. e.g., if you're creative, perhaps seek field of study provide entry cleveland's top-notch industrial design community or nationally respected restaurant industry.

universities you're considering have placement statistics sorted departments/majors? if so, if parent or prospective university student, consider them. chances of getting job upon graduation? salary?

should consider contacting persons working in fields interest , seeking advice. read can find job prospects , needed fields university graduates. you're entering real world now, , while value liberal arts education , believe work should fun , interesting possible each individual, it's not fun having expensive degree while being relegated relative poverty.

in other words, develop realistic , informed game plan considering economy of next decade or two.

btw, csu imo underrated place education. student population disproportionately contains commuters , part-time students, employed, serious educations. professors challenged these individuals. evident in many evening courses offered @ csu.

more universities, csu offers many courses throughout day, @ night. enables serious students take heavy course loads, shaving quarters off time @ school, , saving serious money , allowing earlier entry work force. csu, not surprisingly, has robust co-op program. employers desire csu students perform academically while gaining real-world experience.

corollary above typical university social experience muted @ csu. however, more city universities, csu students have great cultural center @ beckon.

e.g., next csu playhouse square, second largest performing arts center in u.s. after lincoln center in new york. offers highly discounted "cheap seats" csu , other students. there immense bargains available, last minute seats @ intimate venues such highly acclaimed hanna theatre, 1 of best performance venues in u.s.
