Expain a non refundable draw when earning commissions?

"draw" guarantee have money coming in while begin work. if commissions exceed draw month, company keeps part advanced draw, , give rest.

unknown if work 3 months no commissions, make $20,000 in commissions in month 4. @ companies have pay them previous 3 draws. @ others, don't have pay. in independent contractor's agreement.

i have been paid of 6 month non refundable draw have earned amount in commission happens if agreement did not have pay draw first 6 months?
