Which Volkswagen GTI transmission is better for a new driver?

okay, getting first car, volkswagen gti, chosen due compelling mix of practicality , sportiness.

however, i'm torn transmission should get, 6-speed manual, or dsg tiptronic.

dsg has advantage of being easier use, , gear changes can controlled paddle shifter. (also, launch control :p)

however, i'm afraid if automatic transmission, won't learn how drive stick properly, want do. additionally, going automatic seems "easy way out", lack of better term.

advice?
